I could argue i got the 50mm Art just for low light indoors. I could argue i got the 105mm f/1.4 Art just for when i needed that shallow DOF. I could argue those are the only two reasons to get the R.

But....

I've bought the EF 24-70mm f/2.8 mkII. That purchase meant the point of no return for me, as i just love the dynamic range of the R for my casual holiday pictures. Those casual pics are often in less than ideal light, and the R is miles ahead of the M50 in these circumstances. I'm just an amateur, i can't control anything about circumstances, so i need a pro camera. The 32Mp sensor is good, but the same tech in bigger sensors will always beat it.

Look, i do want a compact 50mm equivalent, and the ef-m 32mm f/1.4 would be good enough, but it should be stabilized. The same is true for the 50-100mm. I need IBIS, and without it it's not worth it.

The bank account starts to reach R6 price levels. Actually i should sell the 50-100mm, but i will give it one more year or so. I don't believe the Christmas deals are the best deals, i actually believe the spring deals are better, so it will be about march 2021 or march 2022 when i will get my R5.

I hate the waiting. (I've bought 2 RF macro tubes, to have something to play around with during this waiting..... and the 85mm f/2.0 should arrive withing a view weaks.)

M5mkII + IBIS could change my plans, especially combined with a disappointing RF 50mm and no solution for the R5 shutter shock problems. That's why I keep the sigma 50-100mm f/1.8, there's a chance I will go M again, but IBIS is crucial.

Yeah, as I've said before I think you're making the right decision with the R Series given how you like to shoot.

I just didn't know if you'd need a pretty capable walk-around camera too.  Maybe later.
