Interesting result with Godox reflectors!

Among other lights I have a Flashpoint XPLOR 600 Pro   monolight (AKA Godox AD 600 Pro) and now I also have a Godox VL150 COB LED for video work.

the standard reflector for the VL150 is very different from the standard one for the AD600 Pro.

Just for kicks, since both lights use the Bowens-S mount, I decided to try the VL150 reflector on the AD600 Pro. Big difference! At full manual power at about a 15 foot difference, with the standard AD600 Pro reflector, f/11.0 (metered with a Sekonic L-758DR DIGITALMaster meter in incident mode at ISO 100). I then swapped out the VL150 reflector for the AD600Pro’s reflector, and metered output rose to f/11.8 .

In other words, 80% more usable light.

which is great for when I either:

- 1) need more raw light like when the light has to be far from the subject

- 2) want to reduce output level for faster recycling

- 3) am working outdoors and want to reduce the penalty HSS imposes when working outdoors at higher than standard sync speed.

- 4) combining 1 and 3 to do a better job at performing the “over power the sun” trick.
