The D7100 has good autofocus capability, and with the right lens, it is definitely OK for sports photography. There's a few AF parameters that need to be tweaked for best performance, and lens quality is also a factor.

Chief limitation for continuous shooting is the small buffer, which allows for about 12 JPEG or 6 RAW images. I've never found this to be a major handicap for sports/wildlife photography.
