Don't think it will be a huge difference, but my mirrorless focus peaks when the emulsion is toward the camera and doesn't when the base is toward the camera, how I know if I mistakenly have the base up. With newer color films you can no longer say bright and dull side as both sides have some gloss.  The printing analogy I think explains it the best.
