Using a Peak Design Slide with my Olympus EM-1

A question about using a Peak Design strap (or similar strap) with my Mark II and a heavy lens (in particular, the new 100-400mm Olympus lens).  I notice that Olympus recommends against using the camera's tripod mount when putting this camera-and-lens combination on a tripod.  Fair enough.  But should I also be worried about using a strap that connects to the camera eyelets only, or a strap that fastens on one end to a camera eyelet and on the other end to the tripod mount on the lens?  I've been nervous about using a strap in the first one, and I'd like to use my new Peak Design strap in the second.

Thanks,

Ken
