Olympus 40-150mm 4.0-5.06R – Suddenly faulty

I’ve encountered my first ever faulty lens.

Out shooting with my Em5 and 40-150mm lens and I noticed something was wrong. The lens would not auto focus when zoomed into more than about 90mm. I reset the lens a few times, and then after a few more minutes, it would not autofocus, or manual focus at all, at any focal length.

And now today, the lens is totally non-responsive. The camera just shows a blank screen/viewfinder.

All my other lenses work fine with the camera.

Is this case of simply throw this cheap lens in the bin, or is there anything I can do to try and resurrect it? No idea how this happened, I rarely use this lens and it has been sat on a self for the last few months, when put away it was working fine.
