Why are voigtlander aperture blades not round?

The straight aperture blades is an odd choice, making bokeh in the background very geometric rather than smooth circles.

Why is this? I suppose some people would find it creative or artistic as it is different, but I am not sure I like it on an otherwise very neat looking lens lineup.
