Start with the glass and work your way back.

II recently purchased an RP, matched with the RF 24-105 F4 L, for use as my main stills camera. Nothing in the M system can match the quality of this RF standard zoom lens.

My M6 MkII, matched with the EF-M 11-22, will now become a backup used primarily for 4k video. Nothing in the R system can match the price of this M wide angle zoom lens.

Camera bodies come and go, glass can last forever.

This is pretty much my thinking.

I think you should wait. The M50 is not really bad. The M body you really want could appear next year. In that same year the prices of the RP/R/R6 might come down. So even when that body doesn't come, you will benefit from lower prices for the full frame bodies.

The R6 is 20Mp, but that will still give you more sharpness than the 24Mp of the M50.

When you're not focal length limited.

As the length of a thread approaches 150, the probability that someone will make the obvious "it's not the camera, it's the photographer" remark approaches 1.
