70-200 F4 (non IS) + 1.4x or 70-300L

I currently shoot with an 80D and my main lenses are the 15-85 and the 70-200 F4 (non IS).  I shoot a mix of different things but have mainly used the 70-200 for landscapes, zooming in on building details when shooting architecture and also for perched birds when out walking.

In the next 2 months I'll be buying a 100-400ii and the 1.4x iii. I used to shoot BIF and wildlife so will be doing more of that once I get the 100-400ii + TC.

I've been thinking about the 70-300 lately and although it is a little heavier than my 70-200 it will take up less space in my bag. If I put the 1.4x on my 70-200 I'd have up to 280mm 5.6 which is almost the equivalent of the 70-300L 4-5.6.

I suspect I would use the 70-300L for much the same I currently use the 70-200 for (landscapes, architecture details, and perched birds while out walking.

Given the choice, would you just add the 1.4x to the 70-200 when you wanted a little extra reach or go with the 70-300L?
