I have 2 M50's. One has my 18-150 on and one has my 11-22 on. Not too heavy to carry around and I am prepared for most eventualities.

Hi,

that's also my current standard. Still looking for a good tele zoom.
The EF-M 50-200/EF-S 55-250mm are too short, everything else is too bulky.

Unfortunately the reality is that Canon remains adamant about maintaining clear market separation between the M System and every other line it sells.

This means that there's very little chance we'll see a nice minimally-sized long zoom even though it's entirely engineer-able.  Heck, it's a long shot we'll ever see a nice minimally-sized standard zoom either!

Canon pushes anyone who is advanced enough to want these more capable tools over into the EF camp, and now the RF camp.  That's been their business model all along.

Now if it was you or I making these marketing decisions, we'd of course push the envelope with EVERY camera and EVERY lens (at EVERY level) and flood the entire market with gobsmackingly good photographic tools.

But for now folks will have to look to the other Canon lines (or elsewhere) for satisfaction.  We can hope and dream.  And beg.  Maybe some of it will get through, but until we're named to Canon's Board of Directors, we'll be at their mercy.
