I was introduced to photography at about age 6  some 70+ years ago.
My aunt (sister of my mother) snaps photos at family informal and formal gatherings with her Brownie.  She allowed me to look through the view finder,  then answered all my silly questions, eventually letting me take photos with that wonderful "brown box".   I was hooked! 
At an older brother's suggestion, our mother gave me a brand new 35mm Range finder camera for my HS graduation gift. Public Libraries were miles away,  moreover,  books on Photography were scares.  I learn photography the hard way - - - by trial and error,  mostly error. I learn from my mistakes.  Acquires a Selenium powered exposure meter without user's manual, figured how to use it.  End of exposure woes.
Subscribed to Life Magazine where colorful photographs stirred my imagination.  Wound-up contributing to Life magazine while in college.
