FZ1000: Are my DFA settings actually directing focus?

At present, I have the DFA=OFF as I want to preserve the cursor's button functions. But, I also have DFA set to Fn-1. I note that even though I have DFA=OFF, when pressing Fn-1, I can move the box and change its size, and then press Return (all cursor functions now are available) to shoot. What I don't know is if DFA is ON and if the newly positioned DFA is actually directing focus? Being able to move and resize the box and still being able to use the cursor functions don't seem to be compatible according to instructions that say that when DFA=ON, Cursor functions are OFF???
