As Alexander said, the 70-300 IS II works really well on my M6II.  For active wildlife its USM AF is much faster than the STM AF of the 55-2XX lenses.  Its what I would take to the zoo or wildlife center.  But it adds ¾ lb over the 55-250.  The M6II also works really well with both the Sigma and Canon 100-400s that I have.  Except for casual use, for heavier lenses like the 100-400 I prefer a larger body like an 80D or 90D.  Probably why I have too many cameras and lenses.
