'Mr. X' is saying goodbye to Fujifilm Electronic Imaging & Optics. . .

It seems Toshihisa Iida, affectionately known as 'Mr. X' since he has been the strategic architect of the Fuji X & GFX systems, has gotten a big promotion. He is moving from GM of both Electronic Imaging and Optics divisions (two of three divisions within Imaging Solutions segment, which together earned ¥98 billion in FY2019) to President and GM of Fujifilm Europe (¥263 billion in FY2019), an opportunity for him to gain experience managing other segments of the business and possibly grooming him for more senior leadership down the road.

This will increase the amount of revenue he is responsible for by about 2.5x, so great news for him & his career but some uncertainty for us Fuji fans!  We have all benefitted from his commitment to product vision and decisions to be 'pure' to the ideals of the customer vs. being motivated only by chasing sales, and that is a rare thing in an executive.

Congratulations Iida-san, and welcome to Mark Yamamoto, who will be assuming Iida's former role as well as joining the Board of Directors. Yamamoto-san was previously GM of Fujifilm Europe (so yes, they are essentially swapping roles) and before that Fujifilm North America.
