@robert1955 ,

Sorry, but this is more a case of trying to get away with murder by saying it was just hyperbole. That word is almost as overused on the net as irony and sarcasm. Just joking of course

Nope, it's just a case of hyperbole.

Don't see much excitement there either

Maybe we're reading from different pages:

  • about the 4:3: "It’s also the old standard TV size, so it’s a recognizable shape. Many photographers like 4:3, because it’s less elongated than 3:2, making it more suited to portraiture. This is the standard shape of sensors in FUJIFILM GFX cameras." (in italic the part you should pay attention to in order to undestand why this feature is not implemented in the X-series
  • 1:1: "this perfectly proportioned frame is ideal for many kinds of photography – particularly when a high degree of symmetry is involved."

by framing the way you did, you set up the target yourself.

Shoot then (hyperbole warning)

If you'd just asked for frame lines and/or jpg crops many would have thought 'well okay, not really interested but fine by me'. Instead you went for the click bait option.

I've asked exactly for a jpeg crop:

"I shoot raw, so whichever in-camera crop I choose the whole frame is recorded, but the possibility of framing directly in square mode is infinitely better and more precise compared to cropping later, if I know I’m gonna crop it anyway."

Don't worry, if I wanted a click-bait post I could have done it easily: I'm still amazed though at the aggressive comments here, considering that even if I think it would be better if digital cameras had 4:3 or 4:5 aspect ratio as their native one, I haven't asked that': I only asked for an innocent jpeg/framing crop, which won't take anything away from your life or wallet.

Moreover, were I really looking for clickbaiting stuff I could have:

  • sent the petition to Petapixel
  • posted the petition myself on all web forums like this, instead of publishing only through my website and my newsletter

I have no social media neither.

Anyway, you know what's the difference made by comments like yours instead of people saying

well okay, not really interested but fine by me

?

That the petition is gathering a few more signature, since this thread (which I haven't started and have seen only a few days ago) is popping up again.

So thank you for that and have a good day.
