Beat me to it. ICE corrects for most distortions when stitching images so normally manages a trouble free merge. Photo's should ideally overlap by about 30% & should be shot in manual to ensure the same aperture/shutter speed/exposure/focus is used on all the initial photos.

ICE can manage shots taken from the sample location with the FOV rotated, as well as images taken from a series of spots. I've had it work nicely with shots from a moving ship.
