Shading Compensation baked in RAW files?
3

All my MFT cameras have a setting called shading compensation.

If you set this to on the camera corrects the vignetting of the lens automatically.

I thought this was only in the JPEG instead I have realised it is baked in the RAW files

Those are two flat files taken with a white t-shirt outdoor the first has shading compensation on and the second off the raw files are processed by camera raw and then I made a jpeg

Shading Compensation On

Shading Compensation Off

I realised this using Dxo Photolab that has its own vignetting correction that assumes this setting is off and the raw files were all over corrected

I was under the impression this setting was only in JPEG but instead it is clear that is baked in the RAW file as all my RAW processors see it the same

Camera is Olympus OMD EM1 MKII but I think the same applies to my Panasonic
