Is Pany DfD Really Bad?
5

Contrast detection, including DfD, is always labeled as "bad AF". But based on my experience with G9, CDAF is not bad for photography at all. It only fails to focus sometimes in extreme low light, where assumably all AF systems would lose focus. It also looses focus when lens goes beyond its limit, e.g. very close to a subject, which is expected. Other than these situations, CDAF is really a good AF system and results in clear and sharp images. For videography, the DfD is not to the bar, but it's not bad either.
