It took Nikon 13 years (2012) to follow-up Canon (1999) with the 70-200/4 lens for F-mount ... so I guess it's obvious Nikon "doesn't like" making 70-200/4 zoom lenses ...

I have a 80-200 f4.5 Ai and 80-200 f4 Ais from the 70's, close enough to a 70-210. they have almost always made a lens in this range.

I knew someone's gonna mention those ... How do these help someone wanting a 70-200/4 for Z mount? Still; Canon made 3 different 70-200/4 lenses in 2 generations in those 12 years, while Nikon only managed one. Yeah, 1 is enough, but the fact, that these are not lenses Nikon prioritizes, stands. Nobody really cares for lenses from half a century (!) ago.
