We can still get mega snow in our central mountains, but the overall trend is down. Some high altitude towns here can get as much as 400 inches in a season and average around 250 inches.

Fall leaf color usually happens in early October. Sometimes it goes off in mid-October. Maybe a 20% chance of 5-7 inches of wet snow when the leaves are at their best, although these shots were a bit after peak. Snow in October is gone in a day - lots of UV and warm daytime temps means a fast melt. Here are a couple from my Nikon days before I went Fuji in the area around Telluride in when the snow and leaves coincided.
