Rationalise my Z lenses by getting a 24-70mm 2.8 - opinions please?

So my current FF kit is the Z6 plus 14-30mm f4, 24-70mm f4, 35mm 1.8S and 50mm 1.8S

I also have the Z50 twin lens kit as a companion and as a more compact rig.

My main genres are street, documentary and environmental portraiture.

My go to lens is the 14-30 for street in the daytime, invariably switching out to the 35mm at night for a faster lens. But I do find 35mm to be a bit narrow for my style and probably would be more at home at 24mm, but the S 24mm prime is darn expensive compared to the 35mm.

Meanwhile, my 24-70mm f4 is hardly being used at all, as I’m invariably reaching for the Z50 and 16-50mm in daylight to cover that range.

So all this has got me thinking.

If I trade my 35mm and 50mm 1.8S plus the 24-70mm f4 the cost to trade up to the 24-70mm 2.8 is £900 GPB. That’s less expensive than adding a 24mm 1.8s prime to my kit.

This move would rationalise my lens collection by condensing 3 lenses into one. I’d gain a faster option at 24mm and 70mm than I currently have, at the expense of giving up 1.8 at 35 and 50mm. The weight and bulk of the 2.8 would be offset by the convenience of a zoom and less lenses to carry.

The 85mm 1.8s will be added at some point regardless, so that’s a side issue.

Thoughts?
