Nothing is wrong with the lens or the camera.  You captured some "air glow", light being given off by oxygen (green) and other gasses (other colours) from low level ionization in the atmosphere.  This is not aurora, but results from a similar chemical reaction of the atmospheric components in the upper atmosphere.

Enjoy your lens.  It is one of my favourites.  Nice photo too!
