The image quality on the 600 is fine depending of course on the quality of the original slide. I use an air blower on the slides before putting them in the tray. Some slides are difficult to tell the correct left to right orientation, so I used a lightbox to try to get the slides oriented properly before loading the holder. If I don't get it right, I can flip the image using my software. Also, I think the emulsion side of the side is supposed to go face up according to the manual; but the emulsion side is hard to see on some of the slides. I tried scanning emulsion up then emulsion down and couldn't tell the difference.

Did the 600 come with the necessary software?
