Worst of all, all copies I tried we're pretty soft at f2.8 and at f5.6 IQ was no better than my 18-135 stm.

My copy is obscenely sharp even wide open. Shooting portraits of my wife with this lens would risk a divorce.

Hehe...well don't do that!

I'm sure there are still good copies out there, I just didn't find one.  Hold on to your's, it sounds like a keeper.

Build quality is mediocre, unfortunately. It can not compete with a Sigma Art lens.

I've rented a few Sigma Art's, 18-35 and the 35, both super nice, preferred the 35mm, but are more than I want to spend.

I did manage to find a Sigma 17-50 f2.8 for cheap, and I'm getting better results with it than I did the Canon lens.  But from what I've read there's a large swing in copy variance with these as well so, it sounds like I had some bad Canon lenses and got a good Sigma one,

Sigma lens is a bit smaller and lighter as well with better build quality.

I'm just using dpp4 to convert my raw's, so I was really hoping to find a good Canon copy to take advantage of the lens correction feature.  Maybe one day I'll try again....but would also like to move to FF one day too so probably no more apsc lenses in my future.
