Playback of 4K Video Remotely

I've struggled with finding a way to remotely view 4k 100mbps MP4 files that are stored on my NAS. By remotely, I mean using my phone (S9+) or tablet (Tab S6) both on my local network via wireless (both hit speeds well in excess of 100mbps) or on the go using 4GLTE.

I'm wondering if it is a power issue. I have no issues playing back the files directly from the NAS on my PC (i7 6700k @4.5GHz) or my Surface Pro 4 (i5 6300U) and even a very old Asus laptop (i7 4700HQ). I can playback the files on my NVIDIA Shield (2017) as well.

It seems to me that the Snapdragon 835 (S9+) and the Snapdragon 855 (Tab S6) should have no issues with playback. They can playback the files when they are directly loaded on the unit (vs. on the NAS).

Any ideas what the issue might be? I've tried using MX Player (and others) and using SW, HW+ and HW decoding, but all suffer the same issue (buffering).
