M-Zuiko Digital 75 - 300 II - Advice Required

Hello,

I recently bought the above lens to use on an OMD EM10 MkII. I have had the camera a little while and I am very happy with it.

I wanted to upgrade from the 40-150mm lens that came bundled with the camera.

My concern is that the pictures I have from the new lens are soft to the point of being out of focus. I want to know if this is operator error or actually a problem with the lens.

I am a tolerably competent amateur user; no more than that. I have tried to alter the settings on manual to higher shutter speeds to eliminate shake but nothing seems to make much difference.

I've included some comparison phots below to try to show what I mean. All were taken in Auto mode and hand held.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you in advance.

This was taken with the 40-150 at 150mm

This is from the new lens. At 150mm for a comarison

This is from the 300mm at 300mm.
