Petition Fuji, give us 4:3, 5:4, and 6:7 aspect ratios on X-series cameras Locked

Hi, I’m the authour of the petition.
I found this thread so I’d like to clarify a couple of things.

I know I can crop later, it’s just easier to see the image in the aspect ratio you probably end up using.

I like my X-T3 and X100 cameras, I don’t want a m43 and can’t afford mf, which wouldn’t be practical for most of the pictures I take anyway.

Nothing is « hard-wired » in your camera, it’s just an option you could select (or not) in the menu, like with the already there 1 :1 and 16 :9 aspect ratios.

Agree that the possibility of hiding options in the menu would be very useful

That’s exactly how it already works for the 1 :1 and 16 :9 aspect ratios, and would be perfect for other ratios as well.

Thanks for pointing it out, I don’t know what the fuss is about. It’s a feature already present in the camera, it doesn’ require physical buttons, if you don’t like it you can plainly ignore it, and the raw files are untouched. The advantage is all in framing and (in raw converters that support the feature) editing pictures with the crop already applied.

i would guess anybody who has a camera knows how to crop in PS, the point is framing in the correct aspect ratio.

For me is suboptimal. Probably you’re a much better photographer than me, but to me it would be easier to frame and compose with the evf/lcd showing the aspect ratio I wanna use and without having to guess where the cropped frame ends.

Anyway, I doubt Fuji will ever implement this, probably to protect the GFX series.
It would take 3 seconds to implement, as the code already exists for the 1 :1 and 16 :9 aspect ratios, it would cost nothing, it would take nothing from the camera of those not interested (it won’t even add an item to the menu, as the option is already there for other aspect ratios).
I guess I’ll have to wait for the check from Doug and go buy a GFX 100.
