Re: D800/D810 or D850 - help me make a call?

The primary difference between the D810 and the D800e is that the D810 has the rear split screen option which I find valuable for landscape photography using tilt shift lenses. In terms of IQ and dynamic range the two cameras are nearly idendical.

D850 provides greatly improved autofocus performance and a larger sensor. I prefer having a 30-35 megapixel sensor for most shooting where the D850 45MP is overkill and slows down workflow.

With the D850 I found myself spending $5,000 to put together a new workstation with a faster CPU, faster GPU, internal SSD drives, and a 10GB Ethernet card. So the cost to me for the D850 was around $9,000.
