A couple of days ago I sat in a local hide and got to play with an R5 for a bit. Coupled with my 100-400II much of the time it felt great. One issue I think all of us bird shooters will hate though is the time it takes for the EVF to kick in. For instance, I had the camera on and read resting on a beanbag on the window when a bird I wanted to shoot took flight unexpectedly. On my DSLRs I would grab my camera and shoot instantly able to see the bird in the VF and start tracking it. On the R5, the viewfinder switches off as otherwise the battery will die very quick. This means when you grab the camera for those oooh smeg moments it takes a second or two to fire up, it meant I either missed the moment, or that period of blackness meant I lost track of the bird.

A valuable observation. Thanks.
