Sure thing, in the menu, you enable Focus Bracketing, inside that you can define how many images for the camera to take. The default is 100 (it shoots only as many as it needs), but you can set it to 3 for example if you wanted. On average I have found it shoots 4 to 6 images shooting landscape F/11 to F/16. You can set the Focus Increment from narrow to wide, and by default Exposure Smoothing is enabled.
From what I can tell it doesn't seem to matter where you focus, the camera will automatically select other depths and shot the others in drive mode, the curtain is up when this happens so it's very fast (possibly at the full 20 FPS). Shoot once, in the view finder you'll see a quick sharp to blur on the screen and then it's done. You'll have multiple images there ready to be focus stacked in Photoshop later.
Damn Canon! I want focus stacking on my EOS R. I'm sure it's technically possible (like on EOS RP) and only we need FW update. But I don't expect it...
You guys (this thread) are killing me!! I pre-ordered an R5 on day 1, then cancelled the order as soon as CPW alerted me to another option to save $150 and also the sales tax. I'm hoping that this store gets enough for their now delayed-to-week-of-9/21 delivery to fill my order..!! It will be my first mirrorless camera (5D IV and 7D II as my currents, plus older 5D II and III)
Canon EOS 7D Mark II
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
Canon EOS R5
Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8L IS II USM
Canon Extender EF 1.4x III
