You can make some improvement by wiping the entire camera with a soft cloth with a bit of rubbing alcohol on it.  This will be safe on all surfaces.  Use a q-Tips for small tight to reach places.   This is for exterior - not for inside lens mount.  Out side of lens can be wiped also - just don't get carried away with amount of liquid.  Damp is the word.

Change area of cloth often.   This worked fairly well on cameras that smelled of smoke.
