Sigma 100-400 soft on the edges?

Sigma 100-400 soft on the edges?

I have been playing around with my Sigma 100-400 for the last couple of weeks and while I am happy with the center sharpness, edge sharpness leaves a lot to be desired. This lens is replacing my adapted Canon 70-300L lens and I decided to run a series of tests to measure sharpness (all tests with camera on tripod, remote shutter, flat wall chart). I also compared it to my recently acquired Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 and below are the findings (all pics taken with Sony a7R3, 100% crops enlarged to 4:1, lens names on the images):

Is the lens soft on all corners for others as well or do I have unrealistic expectations? Since all 4 corners are soft, doesn't look like decentered lens. I am happy with the center sharpness - you can see above as well as here:
