I should note some lenses don't perform as well focused closer vs focused further away. So unless you intend to always shoot subjects this close, I would try to do some testing also at further distances

Others already pointed out, even though the Olympus lens doesn't support Sync IS, it does support dual stabilization in Olympus bodies (body IS providing roll stabilization), a feature that the G9 would be missing out. If you want this to purely be a lens sharpness test, having the camera on a tripod and using a timer (to eliminate handling shake) is the best way to test.
