Yep there is something aesthetically pleasing about the files from the earlier Canon Rebel series. My 700D is a good unit but I have found that the 1000D just produced really nice images with a little grain and it always printed well on Pearl or Matt finish papers.

+1

I also find the noise from my 1100D more tolerable than my 80D.

I can see the Canon marketing crew scratching their heads over that. What ? They want more grainy noise now!! And just when they thought they had it right with noise free sensors.

Hehe, ya I bet! I was pretty disappointed in the 80D's low light ability when I got it. IQ is good when the light is good but when the light is low it really falls apart. Hence my interest in a 6D....or 5d mkiii haven't decided yet

What you describe is exactly how I feel about my 700D. I'm  disappointed with the IQ considering I was expecting it to be better than my 650D. Images all tend to be soft focus and its low-light performance is horrible. My Fuji XA2 would beat it hands down for low-light shooting and it was never considered as a low-light monster.

I was considering the 80D as an alternative but having seen your experience I think I might have to reconsider that. I did wonder as to whether the STM lenses were part of the issue, but everything I've seen to date suggests these lenses should be excellent with this body. Fuji is starting to appeal to me again but the price tag is a little higher than I would like.
