I've long considered the Panny 100-400, having some reservations about it, so I waited for the Oly 100-400 to make a final decision.

And my decision is...

Neither are really worth it, not for my type of casual telephoto shooting anyway and premium price paid for that 400mm (instead of 300mm) is quite high. Both are big lenses too and I don't feel they offer a satisfactory stabilizing solution for the price (particularly a disappointment for the Oly)

So I've scaled back my expectations and started looking at deals on Ebay and Amazon and settled for the M Zuiko 75-300 II. Probably the lens I should have bought 3-4 years ago.

Although I have had the PL100-400 for quite a few years now, I was looking for something small but with more reach than my beloved 14-150 for use with my E-M5 III for flowers and butterflies. Enter a 75-300 II from the Olympus refurbished site.

Seems to be good so far..... not up to the IQ of the PL100-400 but pretty good, and a lot smaller.
