  • Whenever I get a new long lens, it takes me some time to get used to it. Often, my keeper rate starts very low. Nothing beats practice and familiarity with a long lens!
  • Olympus is in a transition right now. They're not going to be on their top game, and while that has almost certainly not affected the 100-400 (which would have started production long before this event), it could impact (e.g. delay) firmware updates. Dual IS support for this lens might be an example.

I do not own, nor am I likely to buy this lens (I already own the Pleica 100-400 and love it).

As an added data point, I got to hand-hold test the Pleica 100-400 against the Oly 300mm tonight on a GX8 (with its prototype-level IBIS and 1st-gen dual IS). I was able to fairly consistently shoot keepers at 400mm with a 1s shutter speed, which is dramatically better than I expected. I was not able to do so with the 300mm (or 420mm or 600mm with the TCs attached), but the OIS seemed very good nonetheless. I'd love to test this on an EM1iii if someone could send me one?

Wow, did I read correct, and/or did you miss to type out all letters there?

One second @400mm...incredible!
