I thought that I had read on this forum that those Olympus lenses with built in IS, e.g. the 12-100mm and 300mm f/4, have IS problems when used on Panasonic bodies.

I believe that the Panasonic menu system only allows Dual IS or no IS. There is no option for lens only IS.

Is this correct and could it be the cause of the OP's results?

Oly 12-100 on G9.

Uses only lens IS (assuming it's on). No option for Dual IS as Oly and Pan don't have common system

This is no problem as 1.)Oly 12-100 has excellent lens IS. 4 stops at least. I've shot under 1 second at about 50mm 2)We are only at 200mm ff equivalent.

If the oly 100-400 has less robust internal IS it will really hamper use on Pan as there will be no help at all from IBIS.

my complaint about the PL 100-400 are many but IS is not one of them.!  it sounds like the new Oly will underperform in that respect. I may even wait and buy a new PL if I can get one with a better zoom and shoe that isn't loose.  life is tough
