What designers? With my X-rite software, on Mac, I can enter any Cd/m2 value my display can produce. It just happens to be 145. As requested and measured.

Do you need to recalibrate each time?

Do you se the Mac changing brightens with brightness icon and level appearing on monitor?

If you are you using your computer for different purposes you might (some will say should be using different profiles for that purpose.

For example, if the images are going out on the web, you likely want to have the luminosity at 120 cd/m but if you are soft-proofing while printing you likely will have a better screen to print match using 80 cd/m.

outside of that, even thought LED backlit LCD panels are far better about this than fluorescent backlit LCD panels which in turn are far better than much older cathode ray tubes, electronics can still drift and profiling every month is a good idea.
