Paging Sigma 24-70 2.8 DG DN owners, any internal dust issues?

I recently bought a used copy of this lens and it had an alarming amount of dust inside - fortunately I was able to return it - but it has me concerned. Now I don't know where it was used and such, but I've carried lenses not marketed with major weather sealing like the 16-35/4, 24-70/4 and 70-200/4 to some of the dustiest places imaginable - from SE Asia, India, Nepal, across Africa and through Central/South America and they fared far better than the new Sigma I briefly owned.

I've read a bunch of reviews, but most don't have the lens very long so its not going to come up. But one did use the lens at an indoor rock climbing event and noted there was a noticeable amount of chalk dust behind the front element after the shoot.

I don't live in a dusty environment, but will be using the lens for work which is almost always outside, and I shoot small apertures on the beach a lot for the sunstars. I also shoot a lot of video, any crud in the image kills the shot, can't just clone stuff out like we do with photos.

So anyone having issues with this lens inhaling a lot of dust or was this one just a dud?

I'm seriously torn between this lens or spending a few hundred more for a used GM. If the Tamron went to 24mm I'd get it, but after owning it for a year and then owning the GM (and then selling that one too) 28mm on the wide end doesn't work for me.

Thanks in advance.
