You may want to try Canon EF 400mm f5.6 in used or refurbished version. Price-wise very close to 600 RF, but is a great lens. I would suggest, if possible in your area, rent and try 400mm f5.6 before making a purchase decision.

However, as others have mentioned, please note that birding with RP can be really frustrating. Very slow burst mode, not fast enough to lock focus on small birds can frustrate you in the woods.

But it's good for my bird feeder. Usually bids near the bird feeder will give you a little extra time and additionally you can pre-focus.
