Camera/lens generation and IQ

Great shots, like the work, shows that even a relatively old camera can do amazing stuff

First of all, great set!

@Dylan

Well, age is relative

IMO, the IQ is defined by sensor and lens. Provided the hygiene factors are fulfilled (exposure, no undesired movement/vibration, etc.).

The X-T2 was released in 2016. The sensor hasn't changed substantially since.

My opinion is that unless there is a substantially new sensor generation, the newer models (e. g., with IBIS, faster AF, better AF tracking) just help to increase the likelihood that the photographer really leverages the full performance of the system. In all situations where the photog managed this before let's say with an X-T2, a newer model will not increase the IQ.

(With video, it is different if there are really new options.)

A new sensor (43 MP?) may require a new generation of lenses.

Martin
