I have had a very similar experience. I have the 24-105 and the 28-200 (as well as the 17-28 for the wide end). I haven't used my 24-105 since purchasing the 28-200 and will very likely sell it. The 28-200 is just too versatile and to my eye equally sharp through most of the frame (I think the 24-105 has a slight edge in the corners, but for the vast majority of my photos that doesn't really matter much, as the corners are typically also out of the plane of focus). I haven't found myself missing the stabilization on the 24-105 at all.
