Birds and other critters at the Grindstone Creek Wetland

After many months of closure and limitations I finally decided to return to my preferred wetland location. I was lucky to encounter a good variety of species and only missed taking a shot of a juvenile Bald Eagle. I hope you enjoy these wild animals in an urban wilderness.

One duck on a log

Many ducks on a log

Great Blue Heron approaching the shore of the Grindstone creek

Assessing the situation

Green Heron scouting the area

It seems that the little Green Heron is enjoying the green pea soup

The male Cardinal is checking me out

The Great Blue Heron is also a fan of the green pea soup

Male and female Wood ducks

Another Wood Duck. Unfortunately I did not see any male in his mating colours.

Two turtles on a log. I am certain that the one in the front is an Eastern Painted turtle. I am not sure about the second one. Its shell does not look like that of a Painted turtle

The little Chickadee was expecting a gift from me. I missed taking some seeds with me when I went to the wetland.

Great White Egret with his catch

Osprey on the hunt

Good night Great Blue Heron
