I haven't noticed any disadvantage to not using the dedicated button setting. This is on the A7III.

It's worth mentioning that the dedicated button is a holdover. EyeAF didn't used to be on anytime you pressed autofocus. It used to only work as a separate button that you had to press instead of AF-On or half-press shutter. Then they updated the AF systems of the a9, A7III, and I think A7R3 so that EyeAF could be active anytime AF was active. Since then, I haven't used the dedicated button at all and have just used the normal AF button for EyeAF. So that's what I meant when I said that I haven't noticed a disadvantage to not using the dedicated EyeAF button setting.
