Did Canon lie about the R6 providing "8 stops of IS"? Two lenses reviewed get 5 at most

Why the harsh wording? Why am I not asking whether Canon "exaggerated" or "was wrong about" their claim that the R6 provides 8 stops of image stabilization regarding several lenses?

Because Photography enthusiasts and experts have always noted that every single camera company has overstated IS by 2 or 3 stops.

These consumers seem to take for granted that camera companies will lie about IS and that's just the way it is, and it's no biggie.

By now, consumers should have demanded honesty. These companies are well aware of their deceptive claims, yet continue to lie.

A 24-70 and a 50mm prime were tested by Gordon Laing (Physics degree). He stated that these lenses are listed as having 8 stops of added stabilization. See 16:16 into the video linked at the end of this post.

His tests found 5.

It is irrelevant that 5 is pretty good. Don't sell something that's "pretty good" as something "out of this world".

Honda Civics are pretty good. Just don't tell me they're Lamborghinis.
