4K HQ = 8K Locked

Warner Bro's uses 8K, IMAX 65 even higher!

I think you are confused. Major studio do not want to release their top movies in 8K, They'll often lower quality to below 4K before releasing "4K" titles to "protect" their assets.

But like we know a large number of films now are shot in 8K or at least 6.5K. The benefits are tremendous. I've linked to several videos repeatedly that explained this. I am sure you remember,

As for the study you mention, it is tue that if you stand at an arbitrary viewing distance far enough away you can't see the difference. But we are all smart enough to shoot stills on 2MP cameras even though we might only have 2K monitors.

One study I just read said 65mm film is an equivalent 12K resolution and IMAX 65mm film is an equivalent 18K resolution.
