Why are Sony lenses so expensive?

Previously, there was lack of competition in mirrorless FF

Sony FE prices were generally too high in the past. I think now that there is growing competition Sony will find that it pays to moderate its prices.

E.g., the Sony 24-105G was previously $1400, compared to the Canon 24-105 RF at $1100. However, now the Sony is on sale for $200 off.

With growing competition from other brands, and 3rd party, Sony will probably find that it needs to moderate its prices or face erosion of its market share.
