I use a EF 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens on an RP with adapter and get very nice results. Could you explain to me why an R FF MILC pancake lens would not perform well?

I have the 40mm too. With an adapter it's not a pancake lens anymore. It's like 45mm long in total.

Agreed. It’s still the lightest, smallest lens I I have to use on my RP for now.

I have the RF 35 1.8 as well... it's not that much bigger, and according to my scale is only about 60g heavier. For me, 60g and maybe 15mm of length is a welcome trade for more speed and better + faster AF. Not that the 40/2.8 is a bad lens though

I agree with you. I have the EF 35mm F2 IS and love it. I’m still using 5D 3 for weddings bc of two slots. When I get r5/R6 for weddings, I’ll probably switch for the RF 35mm then.
