Conflicting surveys results in Open Talk

(Yes, this is about Pentax... I'll get there)

This thread asks what format you'd choose if starting from scratch

As of now, just under 17% choose SLR (APSC+FF), while over 51% choose MILC (again, combining APSC+MILC responses).

Meanwhile, this survey ( ) currently records 52% preferring an "optical ground glass, through the lens" viewfinder, with only 27.7% wanting a "Mirrorless, digital ground glass through the lens" approach.

If people wish for MILCs while actually preferring OVFs almost 2-to-1, then Pentax pushing its new viewfinder as the finest OVF ever made starts to be understandable as a general marketing move: "Folks, this is what you really want, and we do it better than anyone else." The results suggest that the OVF is an advertisable, market leverage feature.

Other interesting take-away is that, even without considering existing lens/system buy-in, not quite 20% of the responders say they would prefer an SLR to a MILC. That's still a reasonably healthy market share for a supposedly 'dying' design...

I'm not advocating voting on either survey (and personally I haven't). I just thought the result inconsistency interesting as a context for Pentax's recent videos.
