Flawed m43 rumours 100-400 comparison.
7

Having used the Panasonic 100-400 for many years on both Olympus and Panasonic bodies, and struggled for months until I discovered settings that do and don't produce good images from this lens, it was immediately apparent to my eyes that the softness shown in the Panasonic images compared to the Olympus 100-400 - at 'sensible' shutter speed settings, - was down to using Dual IS.

It took me a long time to discover that, and as I could not could not select single IS on my particular Panasonic camera bought an Olympus.

The sharpness increase was very noticeable.

What first gave me a hint to the problem was when I fitted Panasonic's 100-400 to an old 12mp G1 with no stabilisation and achieved sharper results.

M43 rumours did do their best with the review and tried to go into depth with the comparison if the Olympus and Panasonic 100-400 lenses, but i am suggesting the reviewer was not aware of the dual IS softness issue.
